Honeypot Children's Charity provides a range of short breaks options to support young carers from across Wales have a break from their caring roles and improve their health and wellbeing. Breaks include residentials where young carers can have fun with their peers, access to microgrants for a break with friends or family members and a range of day trips.
Honeypot’s services are accessed exclusively through referrals from agents within the child welfare network of Wales, including Social Work Teams, Social Workers, GPs, District Health Nurses, School Welfare Officers, and Head Teachers and many more. In addition to the assessment of needs of the young carers Honeypot receives from referral organisations, Honeypot also carries out its own needs assessment.
The organisation aims to tailor services to meet the individual needs of young carers. Honeypot focusses solely on young carers aged 5 years to 18 years, a group that is hidden, and severely under provided for.

The Honeypot Children’s Charity was founded 30 years ago in Hampshire, with a residential respite house in Hampshire, to support vulnerable inner city young children, who never had the experience of a residential respite break in the fresh, green countryside. With many of these children being young carers Honeypot committed to focussing on and consistently supporting young carers from 28 years ago to the present. Honeypot opened its second residential house in Pen y Bryn, near Newtown 10 years ago, and the third House in East Ayrshire less than 1 year ago. From being a single service organisation, Honeypot has built capacity to provide a range of ten impactful support services for young carers, which meets a wide range of their needs. It now supports over 3,000 young carers in the UK annually, with 1,000 from Wales. They are a network partner of the Carers Trust, the major national charity offering practical and emotional help to carers.
